A Little Jaunt to ‘That Other Island’…
as Adam likes to say.
On Tuesday we jumped on the Ferry over to Vancouver Island to see my Grandfather in Sidney.
Our Ferry system shines on a sunny day. The views are unbeatable.
Sailing through the Gulf Islands wows me everytime.
And this time…on the return journey we actually got to see a Killer Whale! My first sighting in 25 years of ferry travel.
After settling in at the Queen Victoria Hotel just behind the Museum, we headed back to Sidney to meet up with my Grandfather and they have a beach right down the road.

The kids got soaked and had a riot. This is a block away from my Grandfathers new home!
Then we headed out for Fish and Chips as a local place. Sidney is lovely and charming.
We spent yesterday in Victoria and took in Miniature World and the Undersea Gardens…the Gardens were a HUGE hit with Adam..he loves ANYTHING to do with the Ocean.
Caity, as always was a bit jumpy but enjoyed it all.
Especially the petting farm at Beacon Hill Park.
Then on the way back to the ferry we took a turn and stopped at Island View Beach…lovely.
It was a lovely mini-holiday.
I love Vancouver Island.

Lovely post crunchie, with great pictures. We just returned from an Alaska cruise yesterday and as we sailed between Vancouver Island and the coast of BC, I couldn’t help but think this is one of the most beautiful spots in the world.
I bet your kids were excited about the whale.
