The Vancouver Aquarium

Posted by crunchy | May 28, 2007 .

We spent today at the Vancouver Aquarium since Adam is marine life mad and it was his birthday.

Despite the controversy that hangs around the facility and the various tales of miscarrying dolphins and stillborn whales…..I still love the opportunity for people to get up close and personal with such a stunning variety of marine life.

I think they work hard at balancing between education and entertainment.  This ain’t Sea World.

And my kids love it.  And we thankfully had a coupon as it is quite pricey.

Despite there being a HUGE load of Americans up for the Memorial Day Weekend - it was still very comfortable and easy to enjoy all the exhibits.

Yesterday we took Adam and Caity to Science World.  They had never been and sure enough, was right up Adam’s alley.

We had a coupon for this one too as it was once again very pricey and I don’t know how anyone with a fixed income could afford to take their kids.

It is a shame when the ‘good’ kids attractions cost so much.  We haven’t ever gone to the Childrens Festival because the cost of the various shows would surely add up….and I just resent that.

Anyway…my rant.

But Adam is happy and we are lucky that while pricey, Vancouver does have some great family attractions.
