A friend of mine emailed me about this place…
Address : 4593 Dunbar Street, Vancouver, BC V6S 2G7
Telephone : 604-228-0818
Here is what she had to say:
“I go completely out of my way and meet friends with kids there because it has a pretty big play area at the back full of nice toys and books. The tables are right there and you can sip your latte while monitoring your kid, and even carry on a conversation with another adult. Food is pretty good, coffee is good, and there’s kid-friendly fare (like a whole milk fruit smoothy) that isn’t junky. I would love to know if more places like that exist, because that place can make my week, but it’s a hassle to get to from Richmond. Do other places like that exist- -where moms can try to retain a sense of themselves and not have to eat fast food and kids can play with toys they like?”
Daddy Blogger, Vancouver Dad has a great list of coffee shops all over the Lower Mainland that are family fun and friendly AND have good coffee. The Laughing Bean on East Hastings is one place I totally forgot about and it is nice and fun and friendly to strollers!

The last time I was in Laughing Bean on Hastings the guy that was working behind the counter asked me if I would like my drink whipped - I made the mistake of saying yes and he pulled out a REAL whip! It is a friendly place though lol
I also like Miles o Beans on Kingsway across from Highgate mall. They have a morning actually for kids so they can play and have free internet. If you go at night time they also have live bands for free too. I like free!
Excellent!
I have actually been to Miles…but it was for a poetry slam..no kids!
It is a cool place.
Not sure if my recommendation can match the same delightful super kid-friendly atmosphere, but this is *the best* Thai food restaurant in the world… “My Thai” in downtown Langley at 107 -20542 Fraser Highway .
Kids can eat there no problem, and the food is sooooo amazing! I live in Vic, and I always look forward to indulging in their lip-smacking delicious goodness whenever I visit ma and pa.
The chef (Anne) actually cooked for the royal family in Thailand as well as a renowned hotel in Toronto, so she is tres talented! Now she owns this quaint, clean, and delightful little restaurant in Langley. Takeout available, and pricing is akin to any other asian cuisine.
*I recommend pad thai, spring rolls, yam tempura, and sweet n sour tofu. Unbelievably good… and I have travelled all over the globe!
Bon appetit! (:
