I was called once and really didn’t want to do it at the time so I dressed up in my most expensive clothes, made my hair big and put on lots of makeup and jewelery and my most snobbish White Rock air.
The defending lawyer took one look at me and said, um… no thanks - you’re excused!
Whew - I was very happy - the gas, parking, lunch and time were more than they paid the jurors per day… no thanks… I did not want to ‘DO’ my duty all that much!
That was 15 years ago - now I’d love to do it - my kids are grown, I have time and would find it interesting
A friend has been called 3 times and my husband twice - just the luck of the draw I guess.

I’ve never been called in 46 years here. I wouldn’t mind doing it now, either, except not the Picton trial.

i was a juror in 2001. it was boring. sitting through a trial and trying to decide the fate of a young pregnant woman. it took a week. but she was guilty.
last year in Feb 2006 i was summoned again, but this time i declined to serve on the case as it involved rape and i had a prejudice in that regard.
your name supposedly goes in the pool every 5 years.

I’ve never been called either … and I’m okay with that.
