Olympic Fun

I realize that many of you folks are in fact very excited about the up and coming Olympics in 2010. And there is nothing wrong with that. It will be an exciting two weeks. It is all very glamorous.
However, the costs, fiscal and human seem to be too much for a publicity event. IMO anyway.

It is a great run down of the various issues surrounding the lead up to the games.
We now have Sullivan stating that the city workers striking will ruin the games.
How much bull twaddle will be spouted in the name of these games? Does Vancouver end when the games end? What about the future of this city AFTER the games?

Yes they were Gary.
People were tossed out of their ‘homes’..the seedier hotels as they all suddenly ‘converted’ into ‘real’ hotels to get in on the tourism influx from Expo.
And that was a long term show. From that we had the expo lands turned into the glass condo monstrosity it is today. None of the social housing that was promised after Expo down there has ever shown up and they are still stuck with one over crowded elementary school.
