I am in Shock!
Yesterday was NOT a good day at the House of Crunch….lots of depressing family stuff.
I also thought I would check out the Federal Government offices they had opened to accepting passport application in Burnaby in between the rest of the running around.
I arrived at 2 pm and was told that they had reached their ‘quota’ for the day and were not accepting any more. I then also read on their wall the fact that they were not accepting passports if you wanted to travel before August 10. None of this was in the paper and I never saw ANYTHING about this on the website.
So I sat in the car (I had PAID for parking after all) and raved to my mom on the phone. I then called my dh and raved to him….being that he has bigger things on his plate…he just thought I was being a pain.
We decided that he would drive me downtown this morning to see how it was. I was fully prepared to be dropped of and set in for a long wait. HE must have had a hunch because he decided to plug the meter and head on in with me to see how it was.
Well, I don’t know WHO has to wait in the long line. If you had all your stuff organized and could wait the 6 weeks AND paid by credit card, you go taken to a processing room RIGHT AWAY where they checked your stuff and photocopied your ID and then taken upstairs to your OWN line and processed right away.
In and out.
Six weeks is not a long time. IF it does take that and not longer. We shall see.
If you are trying to get a passport and need to fly out asap…..where have you been and what were you thinking?
Dh is all happy now as he has yet to complete his stuff…but now knows it will be a piece of cake.
I am still in shock.

I am so very happy for you that your experience with passport Canada was a good one. Mine wasn’t….especially seeing as the only passport office on the Island is in Victoria….so to just start things off I had to face a 3 hr drive to Victoria….it was a very big ordeal…extremely long day…..

Congratulations that it went so well. Push DH to get going because he may not be so lucky when he goes.
The horror stories are abounding. What is a total pain is that airlines will not accept passports with less than 6 months so basically we have now a passport that lasts only 4 1/2 years instead of 5. My Australian passport lasts 10 years, why can’t Canadians follow that.
