More Talk about Acting
This is from my Crunchy Carpets site.. but I will ask it here too..
It was too hot to sleep last night, so I was thunking instead.
I think the BlogHer Act and the Canadian version are great. I think it is a perfect way to use this medium to build a unified voice behind one or a few causes and issues.
But it got me wondering…..and then I saw Oprah (don’t laugh). There was these two ladies who happened to be 9/11 widows. They have worked their behinds off in trying to help other widows around the world….and have been focusing and even visited Afghanistan. I really admired their open hearts and their dedication. They focused on small things that they could do for women with the money they could….it was heartwarming and impressive.
So my rambling thoughts and point is this…..Does everyone have a charity or group or organization….national or international that they are convinced do a fantastic job. A group that is already out there….a group that we can focus on depending on the consensus of the BlogHer Act surveys, for example.
I know there are all the biggies out there, but I have a feeling it is the small groups or individuals out there who are working hard to help people that really make differences somehow…on a human scale at least.
While on a big scale….entire NATIONS need a complete overhaul, I do think aid and support on an individual basis, makes a massive difference.
Please, I would love if everyone shared any information they have about organizations or groups that they support or that are part of ‘Your’ cause.
Thanks

Absolutely - my two are not small individual causes but larger established charities. They are the two that I choose to support every year:
BC Cancer Foundation (I do this by donations and also by fundraising and walking in the Weekend to End Breast Cancer. I’m really choked that I can’t participate next year because of my wedding, so I’ll be donating more than usual in 2008).
BC SPCA. Animals have always been my pet cause. No pun intended
