Ah the Good Old Days

Being that yesterday was my boy’s sixth birthday - Happy Birthday Adam! - we had a day filled with gifts, cake and happy birthday song sung by the waiters at Red Robin’s.

Then, being that it was a lovely evening…well, one of the better one’s we have had in this chilly May, I suggested that we check out the Drive - In.

I haven’t been in YEARS.

Twilight used to be at another location…Real Estate developers almost shut it down, but there was SUCH an outcry from all the die hard fans, that a new location was found and the same family STILL run it.

Now it is out in Aldergrove, on the Fraser Highway. So it took us city folks a while to get there, but it was worth it.

The kids were boggled.

I LOVE that they still show the old concession stand ads in between movies. The kids were in hysterics that everyone honks their horn when the dog FINALLY makes it into the bun.

Two movies were a bit much for our two though…

What Movie?

I LOVE that the Lower Mainland has one of the few drive-in movie theaters left in Canada. I LOVE that it is still popular with families and teenagers alike.

If you have a comfy car or good hatchback, I highly recommend heading out there on a warm summers night. They show all the first run movies.

  1. It’s so weird to me that many people have never been to a drive-in. I have lived in 2 different communities that each had a drive-in. (and yes, I’ve been many times!) I hope they stick around for quite awhile longer!

  2. Awww I bet he had a blast. I haven’t been the that drive -in to see a movie in a long time… probably around 93-94… I know I a favorite band play there for a rave in 95. It is soo retro!
