What do I do with it all?

Our townhouse is tiny. I keep talking about clearing out, but we do not get very far.

We have stored copious amounts of baby clothing, equipment, and so on.

When I found out I was pregnant, I was happy because it delayed having to get rid of the baby gear and gave me an excuse to get rid of the clothing not needed. I figured that when I knew the gender, then I could clear out what was not needed.

Well, we found out the gender, but not in the way we had hoped or planned.

Which leaves me back in the same predicament I was in 7 months ago.  AND my mother in law’s stuff to deal with too AS WELL AS the stuff we had stored there!

We are going to rent a storage locker for the things we want to keep…for now.

But I am in a terrible state about all the baby stuff and kids stuff.

We are in no shape to plan our future right now, but we have to clear out some of the stuff.

I have to a)have the strength to LOOK at baby stuff and then b)decide what to do with it.

CH wants to sort out the good stuff and sell what we can.  He also still wants to hold on to most ‘just in case.’

I would be happier donating a lot of the stuff.  I would like the baby and kids stuff to go to families who really need a helping hand.

We have donated towels, sheets and blankets from his mom’s place to the Union Gospel Mission and will probably do the same with all the dishes that were there too.

The furniture will probably end up on Freecycle or the Salvation Army.

I have a couple of women’s groups in mind, but would love to hear from everyone else about any charities or shelters that might appreciate this stuff.

Painful or not, I need to work on making more space for the children I have.  C is busting out of her room.  Her closet is stuffed with totes and baby stuff.   She needs that space for her own things.

So, if anyone out there has some suggestions, I would really love to hear from you.

Thanks

  1. Birthright is the first place that came to mind… My little sister has gone there for help, she said they were great.
