Wet Coast Women is a still a small site, that I aim to make bigger and better the best that I can.  That is why I tend to appreciate any interesting invites for reviews or experiences that my readers MIGHT enjoy.

Thank YOU, Nick from the Wilcox Group for this amazing opportunity!

The opportunity was to not only see but test drive the new and not yet on the market all electric 2011 Chevy Volt!

I am very excited about this, because I have felt for too long we have been denied an affordable and practical electric car and I am somewhat amazed that it was GM and Chevy that has stepped up to the plate on this.

We didn’t get dollar amounts from the engineer, but I don’t think it will be priced out of the box for the average consumer.

Taking the Electric Car out for a spin

Me taking the awesome all electric Chevy Volt for a spin!

Chevy feels that this car will be the first ‘no worry’ electric car on the market.    The car can perform just like any other car with great speed and acceleration for up to 64 kilometers.    As the batteries deplete, you then have the ability to kick in the ‘recharge’ to power up the batteries for many more kilometers, until you can plug it in again.

Just Plug it in!

I think this will be a great city car.  Plenty of power in a good size vehicle.  It seats four, and has a HUGE trunk for a midsize vehicle.  I can see spending a day filled with commuting or errands and if you started to worry about how much power you had in your batteries, all you have to do is check your iPhone App!

It was amazing to see this car whipping around the parking lot of the H. R. MacMillan Space Centre, and NOT HEAR A THING!

It is a peppy little thing….I don’t think any less powerful than a gas car.  There is also a ‘Sport’ Button to press when you need some extra juice!

More Tire Kicking

It was great to see the ever lovely Yoyomama there too to check the car out WITH kids and mix it up with all the men folks looking so serious about the car!

I should also thank my husband for being my photographer for the event!

And all us mom’s can dream of them one day making us an electric mini van to fit all our kids!

  1. That is super-cool! I love the idea of having one of my own, I hope it’s not TOO ridiculously expensive.
