I chuckled at the garbage filler in the envelope too....buying those EXPENSIVE lightbulbs will make me feel better when I fill up the tank.

Dh's check is going to gas...mine and the kids will go to my hair and some summer clothes for the kids.

I am sick sick sick of our government laying the blame so to speak on us and not the powers at be.

We still haven't heard of any changes in infrastructure or things that will replace fossil fuels ...no wind turbines or tidal turbines being built....out transit sucks...worse if you are out in the burbs and non existent if you live in rural areas...so you CAN'T leave your car at home.

Also..unless housing prices PLUMMET and not just 'correct' we will continue to HAVE to buy further out and COMMUTE and will take the car because the buses suck.

EXCELLENT POST!

Although it was nice to see it arrive - it was a kick in the pants as well. So let's see....here in Victoria we could use $100 to get on the ferry - but not to get back on the Island. We could almost fill the van. We could buy a few groceries, but could NOT eat out as a family at an actual restaurant. My hubby could get some chunk change back on his monthly bus pass. Or we could do what our annoying neighbours did - I actually saw them getting out of their car with lightbulbs, a new recycling bin and some fans for their house.

I think I will whittle mine away with new summer dresses for the girls, some sunscreen and a hat. Oh, and maybe a bottle of chilled white wine to help take the sting out of my arse.

Thanks Mr. Campbell.

Ha. You know how I feel about this crap already.

What's it going to go to? House insurance. We're lucky that our home insurance isn't all that much (seriously, combining your house insurance with car and life insurance at one agency saves quite a bit) so the two dividend cheques should just about cover it.

It will go on gas. Unfortunately people living in the north of the province are being unfairly taxed I think. We have no transit, not even a bus service. To get food, visit the doctor, and other basic necessities it involves long drives. I my case a 100 km one way. If I had the option to use transit I would. Unfortunately up here so many are being laid off due to the mountain pine beetle epidemic, with the higher gas prices and therefore higher prices for everything else it is going to cause real hardship, but of course a government that can vote themselves huge raises don't get down to the working man and retirees level do they. I don't think I would worry too much about gas if I was getting the money they are making but on a pension it is no joke and many families will be going without because they have to spend the cash just to get around. We in the north are really ticked off about this.
